SHERIFF L. MITCHELL SHAW
BADGE #250

FULL TIME DEPUTY
CHIEF DEPUTY TOBY LUCE
BADGE #251
I have been a law enforcement officer since 1992. I started my law enforcement career as a Reserve officer with the Lamar Police Department. During my career I worked through the positions of Patrolman to Sergeant. I have also worked as a Detective, Served on the Southwest Missouri Major Case Squad, and a member of the Special Operation Team. I have been a K-9 Handler for 18 years and enjoy working with my new partner and family member, K-9, “Hondo”. I have a wife, Sherri, and two children, Katelyn and Brady.
I served as a Reserve officer for both the Lamar Police Department and the Barton County Sheriff’s Office during the last 7 years while I was a Teacher/Coach with the Lamar R-1 School District.
In July of 2012 I decided to return to Law Enforcement as the Chief Deputy of Barton County. I truly missed being a law enforcement officer. I am looking forward to protecting and serving the Barton County Community for a long time.

DEPUTY JORDAN JUSTUS
BADGE #254
I have been a Deputy with Barton County since January of 2011. I attended the Law Enforcement Academy in Joplin in 2010 and began my career here in Barton County at the age of 21. I am responsible for patrolling the county and answering calls for service for those that live in the county. I also maintain the office's computer network and am the counties evidence officer. It has been my goal to give our deputies more electronic tools and equipment they can use in their daily routine. Our deputies now have access to Panasonic Toughbooks for patrolling which can access our public safety software anywhere they are on duty. We also now have access to all of our office resources such as printers and shared files from our patrol cars as well as information from our Computer Aided Dispatch (or CAD) stations so deputies can see what all is going on in the county or city. In February of 2013 I was appointed as the counties evidence officer and have brought our office's evidence status to the best it has been in years. All evidence stored for the county adheres to a strict State and Federal standard as well as my own standards that go above and beyond what the state requires and is all kept under a tight lock and key. Our documentation for all evidence is now up-to-date not only on paper but electronically as well. Every time a piece of evidence moves or changes custody it is recorded for security and yearly audit purposes. I have enjoyed every moment working with the great people in this county and I hope to spend my entire career building relationships and helping those who need it most in this community. I have always had an open door policy with those I serve and I encourage anyone who needs assistance or help to come in a speak with me. Assistance starts with an open ear and someone willing to put their lives on the line to solve problems no matter how big or small they may be; every problem matters in someone's life.
